REPLACEMENT OF A LARGE BAY WINDOW – VILLA IN EZE<\/h1>\n

In a modern-style villa in Eze, we were asked to replace a large bay window measuring 17 metres long and 3 metres high, and to replace canvas blinds.<\/p>\n

Villa in Eze – Replacement of bay window and blinds<\/h2>\n

The owner’s objectives were both to have as much light as possible, and therefore a large glazed area, while ensuring that he had an energy-efficient solution, and to modernise his blind installation so that he could make the most of his terrace and the view it affords. Finally, one of the challenges of the project was to combine the size of the joinery with the constraints of access to the bay window.<\/p>\n

Custom aluminium joinery<\/h2>\n

The proposed solution consists of made-to-measure aluminium joinery and double glazing. The double glazing is laminated safety glass to provide good protection, particularly against attempted break-ins. The glazing also features solar control to minimise the impact of a large bay window on the villa’s interior temperature. The largest panes weigh more than 350kg, so we use special Schuco aluminium joinery to lift the structure so that it can slide easily. The weight of the bay windows was considerable and access to them was limited, so we used a lifting crane to remove the existing bay window and install the new one. What’s more, as the joinery and glazing were made to measure and delivered separately, we also assembled them on site before installing them.<\/p>\n

Tailor-made fabric blinds with protective cap<\/h2>\n

Replacing the fabric blinds had several objectives. Firstly, to harmonise the blinds with the new bay window and have an elegant and coherent design. Secondly, to ensure that the blinds were high quality and comfortable to use, so we used Dickson fabric and Somfy motorised blinds. The third objective of these new awnings was to allow comfortable use of the terrace and its view at any time of day and any season, especially when the sun is relatively low. To achieve this, we used mantling panels with a motorised valance that can be deployed at the end of the fabric awning. Made from Soltis Serge Ferrari microperforated fabric, they provide protection from the sun while preserving the uninterrupted view.<\/p>\n
